Sustainability and Traceability

What is Sustainability?
"Of, relating to or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged."- Merriam-Webster Dictionary

According to Seafood Business, "sustainability" is defined as seafood farmed or captured in a way that promotes long-term health of the target resource and the marine ecosystem; seafood products are taken within the bounds of what the natural system can replenish.

We will continue to actively support environmentally sound management of marine resources as a way to insure that our customers will always have access to healthy, quality seafood products well into the future.  We advocate for responsible fishery management practices through our active participation in the National Fisheries Institute and working with our key suppliers to ensure their adherence to all fishery management regulations. We support government actions directed at ensuring sustainability of fishery resources and we encourage the development of alternative sources of fishery resources and we encourage the development of alternative sources of seafood supply utilizing environmentally responsible aquaculture methods.  We also support responsible environmental groups like the New England Aquarium that encourage science based fishery management.
