King & Prince Seafood® Earns Plant of the Year Award for Wastewater Treatment

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – King & Prince Seafood has received two major awards from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for excellence in wastewater treatment. The Industrial Plant of the Year award annually recognizes a company that makes “extraordinary effort to properly manage, operate, and maintain their facility”. The Brunswick facility of King & Prince Seafood was the only Georgia plant honored in the Indirect Wastewater Discharge, Physical/Chemical Pretreatment category.

The Brunswick plant also received the Association’s Industrial Gold Award for 100 percent industrial permit compliance with zero violations of the EPA’s wastewater discharge regulations during calendar 2015.

“We’re very honored and proud to receive these awards because they recognize the efforts of everyone at the Brunswick plant to protect our environment,” said Scott Sullins, vice president of operations for King & Prince Seafood. “As a seafood company, we understand the importance of our marine resources and water supply, and this is very much in keeping with our company-wide commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.”

Inspectors from GAWP thoroughly evaluated wastewater treatment processes at the King & Prince Seafood facility using an 80-point checklist. Among the areas inspected were sampling and process control, effluent monitoring equipment, record-keeping, safety, maintenance, and knowledge and skills of the operating personnel.

The awards were presented at the 2016 Industrial Conference & Expo in Athens, Georgia on March 30.
